The Citizen’s Input Committee (CIC) will be meeting on Thursday, July 26th, at 7:00 p.m. on the lower level of the library. This meeting is open to the public. The Citizen’s Input Committee is a strictly voluntary enterprise, and is designed to create an open forum for residents and key stakeholders in Broadview to become informed about the Library’s future building project goals. It is also a forum wherein interested parties have the opportunity to offer input to the Library Board’s Facilities Planning Committee, helping them gain a broader perspective. Members of the group will also help the Library Board hold public informational sessions. The topic for this Thursday’s meeting will be Funding Options for the planned library expansion and renovation.
The Library just finished a successful run hosting the Oral History Traveling Exhibit from the organization Changing Worlds. The exhibit presented inter-generational stories of immigrant families from Bosnia, Cambodia, Iraq, Mexico, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Palestine, Poland, and Puerto Rico, and Somalia.
Thursday, July 26th, 10:30 a.m., join Broadview Fire Chief Thomas Gaertner and Broadview Police Chief Luis Tigera for a ‘Chat with the Chiefs’, here at the Library. It will be a chance for the chiefs to answer any questions you might have, and to hear your concerns.
Interested in learning how to crochet? Well, then, join expert Crocheter Loretta Bohn on Friday, July 27, at 2:00 p.m., in the meeting room on the lower level of the Library. Crocheters, both beginning and advanced, are welcome. Loretta will give each participant lots of individual attention.
The Library still has a number of lawn tickets, through September 6, 2012, for selected concerts at the Ravinia Summer Festival 2012. Broadview residents who are interested in obtaining free tickets to any of the available concerts should stop by the library reference desk.
